One of the benefits of traveling with the Professor was his impeccable memory for landmarks. If he has seen it on a map, or been there in person, he will unerring guide you to your chosen destination, navigating by odd
shaped tree stump and church medallion, by cemetery and shop signs. It is a comfort to the Doctor that in this one aspect at least, there is no need for her calculations or schemes. Though she had come to this world before, she had not ventured so far from the lake's edge, and the great swathes of forest all looked the same to her untrained eye.
