NARRATOR
They awoke in bodies kept is suspension gel in the morgue of the
hospital. It must have been terrifying to awaken with tubes in the throat and all of their bodily cavities filled with a viscous pink gel.

Suspension gel is used by investigators to hold a body at the exact physical state it enters at the point of death. It allows for examination in case of crime or violence, for sequestering of disease and infection, and for keeping cadavers in the best possible shape for use in medical
schools.

Though the majority of teaching in medical schools is done in simulation, it is still preferable for surgeons to pass an examination
using actual human flesh before the person under their microscopic
scalpel is a living one.
